Mary the machine

Mary seems to have an unquenchable capacity for "projects."  She loves to make things and has said "I love projects" and "if anyone told me I can't do projects anymore... I wouldn't listen to them" and "I just have so many projects to do!"

I thought I'd see if she could get too much and gave her the opportunity to design a butterfly valentine for each classmate and her teachers.  I had the materials set out on the kitchen counter the night before and her eyes got really big when she saw it in the morning!  I helped her with assembly, but she designed, drew, glittered and stickered her way through all 28 butterflies in one day!

cheesy show and tell

I got the cheesiest grins when I set out to document the kid's latest eye fashions. Below, Mary is showing off a horrible bruise she got at the playground this week. She walked right into a pole. We found out on Saturday that a friend got the same bruise on the same bar last February. Josiah is showing off his new specs. I can't believe how much his head has grown in one year!

Painting the town

Our little painters just ate up this opportunity to paint fire hydrants for the city. It really was a blast and we got the funniest looks.

Mary reached her goal!

Here is Mary with her Tag Reading System that she had been really wanting. She used Christmas gift money, combined her spending money with her saving money for about 6 weeks, used a $5 coupon, earned some extra money for helping Aaron take down the Christmas tree, and found about $1.50 that she had misplaced. She was so excited when she finally had enough money to purchase it! We did the same puzzle system that we used before to keep track of her goal.

Mary loves projects. This is a pinata she made for Josiah to break. :)

New Years

We had the opportunity to spend the weekend of New Years with some of the Hanzlick clan. Here are some photos I thought I'd share.

Here is Thatcher taking a nap in the backyard. Either just because he could or because the house was full of napping children.

Anne and I helped Mary and David put together a gingerbread kit.

Here's a fun cousin picture. We are so going to look back on this one and smile!

You would not believe what a daredevil this angel is. Aaron was at the top of the slide making sure she didn't just fly down.
This was Aaron's favorite lighted tree in downtown Glendale.
