I just realized I failed to update my faithful blog followers on Josiah's latest progress. June 14th the family loaded up and headed to KC for the ceremonial cast removal. The actual event was less than ceremonious with us covering J's eyes from flying fiberglass dust while holding his hands out of the blade's way. I will admit though that I teared up at the the sight of him being pulled out the cast. After that he had to wear a brace for 20 out of 24 hours which was great because he got 2 hours in the morning and evening to wiggle and roll (and be easier to take grocery shopping!) He also started getting regular baths which he loathed and I loved. :) He rolled over that first night out the brace and in the last 3.5 weeks has learned to roll both ways out of the brace and from front to back in it!
Today I drove 5 MINUTES to see Dr. Olney for his checkup! He and his nurse travel to Wichita once every two months. As if that alone was not enough, his x-ray looked great, he now gets 8 hours a day out of the brace, and he gets to use a regular car seat. Understandably, I caught myself belting out "Oh, Happy Day!" on the way out of the parking lot!
