It is Saturday day morning and we have been here since Wednesday afternoon. We are just beginning to feel in the swing of things. Here are some snippets of these last few days.
Monday- Mary and I attended my Grandpa Joe's memorial service in Belleville. He passed away on Valentine's day. The service was really nice and I'm thankful I was able to attend. I also enjoyed seeing some family on my Dad's side that I haven't seen for several years. Aaron and Josiah stayed at the house while the movers did a great job packing our things.
Tuesday- The movers were back bright and early to load the truck. I took the kids in the morning to get Josiah fitted for his glasses. His left eye turns inward and these should help him focus. IF we can get him to wear them! Aaron took the kids to the hotel while I finished cleaning the house and waited for the vehicles to be picked up. I managed to hit my head between my eyebrows on a light fixture. My awesome neighbors gave me a icepack and I hung out with them until heading to the hotel. I have a bruise, but the pain let up yesterday.
Wednesday-Our 8:50 flight was delayed about an hour, but we still had time to eat lunch and make our connecting flight in Denver. The kids did great on the airplane. When they weren't sleeping, they were snacking. :) We arrived in Phoenix sometime in the afternoon, got our rental car, tried to find our apartment in the 5 o'clock traffic despite bad directions from "Betty" (GPS with our rental). We gave up and stopped at In-N-Out burger for dinner, then went on to the apartment. The kids' suitcase didn't make it to the airport with us, but was delivered that evening around 9:30.
Thursday- We spent much of the day driving around with our Realtor looking at houses. The kids did great again. They enjoyed getting out of their car seats and running around frequently (and snacking!) That night we had dinner with some "friends of friends". They were so kind and it was so nice to spend some time with them.
Friday- Again we headed out to look at houses. We had a few favorites we wanted to see a second time and a couple new ones. No decisions yet. I also visited one preschool. The kids have been enjoying the playground that is right next to our apartment. I cooked my first dinner in Phoenix, and in the spirit of the southwest, I threw salsa in our scrambled eggs this morning.
Saturday- We went to Walmart this morning to get a few essentials that included: A jacket and diapers for Josiah, a step stool for Mary, dish soap and brownie mix for Sarah, and Reese's pieces pastel eggs for Aaron.
We are looking forward to visiting a church tomorrow and spending some time with some of our extended family that lives nearby. Aaron starts work on Monday with a week of orientation. Thank you to those who have been praying for us. Thank you also for the support and encouragement you have extended to us during this transition.
